Throttle valve OFF (diesel)

Software disabling of the diesel throttle flap and its fault codes.

On a diesel engine the power is controlled by the amount of injected fuel, not by limiting airflow. The throttle flap is used for two things only: a smooth engine shut-down (the flap closes when the ignition is switched off) and controlling the fresh air / exhaust gas ratio for the EGR system.

When the throttle actuator fails, the car shows fault codes and often goes into limp mode. Replacement can be expensive — especially on commercial vehicles and vans. We disable the throttle control and its diagnostics in software; in most cases this is combined with EGR OFF.
